Pregnancy
Through your pregnancy with Heirloom Homebirth, you’ll receive:
-Preconception counseling, if desired
-Prenatal visits every 4 weeks until 28 weeks gestation
-Appointments every 2 weeks from 28 weeks until 36 weeks gestation
-Appointments every week from 36 weeks until birth
-A one hour time slot is reserved for appointments in the first and second trimester. 30 minutes for third trimester appointments
-Discussion of normal pregnancy changes and discomforts, fetal development, birth plans and educational material to help you prepare for the upcoming weeks in your pregnancy as well as labor and postpartum planning
-Assessment of maternal and fetal well-being via vitals, urine dip, fetal heart rate, etc.
-Informed choice for various prenatal screenings you’ll be offered in your care
-Regular blood work at your first visit and again at 28 weeks
-Referrals to specialists as indicated, including ultrasound referral
-Access to my lending library for pregnancy, birth, postpartum and breast feeding
-Text/phone support if needed
-I’m on call for your birth beginning at 37 weeks

Labor & Birth
-An hour long birth prep appointment between 36-37 weeks in your home. At this appointment we will go over emergency protocol as well as your desires and vision for the day of your birth
-A birth kit with supplies to help with your birth and support in your postpartum care
-Birth supply list, to be gathered before 37 weeks
-Birth pool provided to my clients if desired
-Support via text/phone in early labor
-Support in your home in active labor.
-Support coping with labor which may include tub, showers, baths, ambulation, rest, music, position changes, heat/ice, massage, herbal/homeopathic remedies, essential oils, acupressure, and breathing
-Fetal heart rate auscultation via Doppler according to ACOG guidelines
-Monitoring of vitals and maternal care
-Help with set up of birth pool
-Helping partner catch baby if desired
-
Postpartum
After delivery your birth team will be at your home for a minimum of 2 hours. At this time we will
-Leave your baby’s cord alone until limp and white, likely around 1 hour unless otherwise indicated
-Help with the delivery of your placenta
-Vaginal repair if needed up to 2nd degree tears
-Golden hour with skin to skin and help with initial breastfeeding
-Break down and clean up of your birth space. We will empty the contents of the birth pool, clean it and pack it away
-Gather trash and laundry, leaving your home as good, if not better than it was when we arrived. You won’t even be able to tell that a birth happened besides having a new baby!
-Perform a newborn exam on your baby which includes weight, length and footprints
-Tuck you into bed for your much deserved postpartum nap
-Text/phone support during this transitional time
-In home postpartum visit at days 1 and 3
-In office visits at 1 week, 2 weeks, 4 weeks and 6 weeks
